                        School Resource Officer

Officer Eddie Lowe or Ziggy

Eddie Lowe, or Ziggy as he is commonly known, serves as School Resource Officer for Waynesville Middle School. Ziggy enjoys working with students and faculty. Ziggy says he will miss the students graduating this school year and looks forward to meeting this coming year’s sixth grade class.

Officer Lowe’s daily duties and activities include the following:

  • Patrol on and around the school grounds where there might be problems concerning the school
  • Visit his office and check messages
  • Conduct foot patrols of the hallways
  • Visit the cafeteria during lunches
  • Check the campus before school lets out
  • Take students home when they’re sick and have no other way
  • Go with the social worker to make home visits concerning students
  • Talk with students that have gotten into trouble
  • Talk with angry parents
  • Deal with security and safety issues, or discuss other problem areas
  • Handle arising situations in the Resource Building for the Focus Program
  • Meets with the Student Assistance Team monthly
  • Fill out Juvenile Petitions and deliver them to Juvenile Services
  • Search for students skipping school
  • Work after school activities on principal’s request

Ziggy wants parents, students, and faculty to remember that the speed limit in a school zone is 20mph. Going faster will only save you seconds; that is if you don’t get stopped for speeding or hit a child. IT’S NOT WORTH IT!!!
